Largest Newly Built Ship in Xiangshan Completes Outfitting and Sets Sail for Sea Trials

On September 13, under clear skies and a festive spirit, the "Hongtai 869" — a 3,009-TEU container vessel (59,253 DWT) and the largest-tonnage ship newly built in Xiangshan — completed outfitting as scheduled at Zhejiang Donghong Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. After rigorous inspection protocols and approval procedures, and with the support of the county government, the vessel smoothly sailed out of Xiawanmen Channel. It was escorted by the Ningbo Xiangshan Maritime Safety Administration vessel and guided by four senior pilots from Ningbo Pilot Station, with two tugboats from Ningbo Port providing convoy support.

On the morning of the 14th, beneath clear skies and calm seas, the "Hongtai 869" departed for the trial waters. Led by the sea trial commander and captain, over 40 participants — including three surveyors from the China Classification Society (CCS), equipment suppliers, trial crew, and shipowner representatives — embarked on the voyage. Following the trial outline, comprehensive tests were meticulously conducted on the vessel’s automation, maneuverability, safety systems, mechanical equipment, and safety installations. These trials fully validated Donghong Shipbuilding’s robust capabilities in construction techniques and technical precision for this class of vessels. In the coming months, three sister ships and two vessels of the same type will be completed and undergo sea trials.

The successful construction and completion of sea trials for the 3,009-TEU "Hongtai 869" (59,253 DWT) were made possible through the support of government authorities, the Ningbo Maritime Safety Administration, Xiangshan Maritime Office, Ningbo Pilot Station, CCS Zhejiang Branch, and other superior units; the guidance of surveyors; the steadfast support of the shipowner; and the dedicated efforts of all employees.
